Latest Situation in Tourism
The number of foreigners visiting Turkey in the January-April period of this year increased by 32.55 percent compared to the same period last year. While 7 million 783 thousand 967 foreign visitors were hosted in the first 4 months, the increase in April alone was 28% compared to the same period of the previous year. 2 million 655 thousand 561 foreigners came to Turkey in April.
The increasing number of tourists this year is quite satisfactory.
Tourism professionals, who say that Europeans who went to other countries instead of Turkey in the past years could not find the quality and service in Turkey and turned their route back to Turkey, state that they need to do their job very well, without getting spoiled because the tourists have returned, and that the next goal is to provide better service to the incoming tourists, increase the quality and attract more quality tourists to Turkey.
The negative trend in tourism in 2016 turned into hope, but despite the increase, employment in accommodation remains behind 2015, when we had a successful tourism year.
On the other hand, Antalya's increase in foreign visitor arrivals continues. The number of visitors in the first 5 months of the year exceeded 2.8 million, an increase of 45 percent compared to last year.
Among the countries sending visitors to Antalya, Russia continues last year's record growth this year. The increase in the number of visitors from the Russian market in the 5-month period is over 40%.
For Germany, the desired values have still not been reached.
